Monika Merva writes that the "word "origins" refers both to my own source, my family, and to my discovery of the power of making pictures. I search for the beauty in the ordinary, the melodies in the commonplace.I photograph subjects that are quiet yet evoke an emotional intensity. I am fascinated by the universality of the individual, and look to capture in pictures the thing that hooks me into my subject."

Omaha based photographer Caitlin Arnold  writes that the "body of work, Andy, is a growing and continuing portrait of a single life. In moments ranging from banal to intimate, we go beyond our comfort zone and enter a world most do not get to see. We are given access to all occasions and moments in his life, creating a place for the viewer to relate. As the work progresses, Andy’s ephemera and environment add to the imagery of his daily life."
