Reed Young writes about his series 'The Italians' "On assignment, spending weeks and months traveling through Italy, I used my free time by photographing the strangers and characters I met. Being a big weird American, the Italians forced me into a new style: these portraits were taken with one light, each person usually giving me less than 5 minutes."

Clare Strand’s images are conceived, researched, developed and resolved through a highly unusual and personal sensibility, using a clear and decisive method of production unique to each project. Strand belongs to the everyday, yet her images evoke the mesmeric, the talismanic and the unsolvable.

Melissa Ann Pinney writes about her series entitled 'White dress project' "It was a tradition at the Academy of the Sacred Heart for Girls in Chicago to wear white dresses for graduation long before I attended high school there. When my daughter was getting ready for 8th grade graduation in 2009 I wanted to make a book of portraits for the class. I photographed each girl in the dress chosen for the ceremony in the Grand Ballroom of the Hilton."

Alinka Echeverria writes "Fifty five years ago, young men from impoverished rural areas in the highlands of Cuba rose up against the dictator, Batista to join Fidel Castro’s rebel army. They had no weapons, supplies, nor guarantees of survival. Triumph seemed like a distant possibility, yet many claim they had nothing to lose. My project revisits the history of this remarkable revolution through the personal biographies of men, who despite dedicating their lives to their leaders, have remained anonymous and have never held positions of power."
